A white-dark start to the morning, with a blizzard heading our way later in the day. Our timing to depart Akureyri to head back to Reykjavík was very well timed (and well planned by Alfreð).

It was pretty much white-out for the first few hours, but stunning neverthless....

An early, dark morning.

And we came across the supermoon (of course).

As the sun was a rising (of course).

And so we drove from the rising sun  until we found a sea of light  and looked in awe at the landscape there.

After a coffee, we set off again and even...

Today the film team split. It was time for Peter and Rick to say goodbye to Cole, Rob and Álfheiður so that those 3 could travel back to Reykjavík for a final interview and for Cole and Rob to take their flights out of Ísland.

Along with Alfreð, Peter and Rick were...

The day started in the dark, as they would from here on. First stop was for a scene at a rather misty canyon with the combined rush of rainfall run-off and glacier melt-waters.

Our last day on Heimaey, we had one interview, with Halldór Sveinsson, before the boat to take us back to the “mainland” that is Ísland.

Halldór is a local policeman and a good friend of former politician Árni Johnsen. He knows Heimaey well and is integral to...

Week 2 started as it should. On Heimaey in Vestmannaeyjar looking for a particular grassy field with a particular volcanic rock. With a person who lived there in her youth, but had left at age 17. Who has never seen Sans Soleil. Who until last year didn’t know about th...

November 10, 2016

We woke relatively early on Wednesday, understanding that we had not merely had a bad dream, and somewhat thankful that we had an hour and a half drive to the ferry bound for Vestmannaeyjar. At least we could perhaps be disconnected from the goings on in the US (and ho...

First stop Monday morning was the studios of 365 miðlar to interview Kristján Már Unarson, the TV reporter who had made the 2015 TV report on the search for the girls in the opening sequence of Sans Soleil. We also gave Álfheiður a short trial as a newsreader – you nev...

Sunday morning in Reykjavík – a leisurely sleep-in for a few hours before surfacing to face the mid-day? That would definitely be not Living Not Beige Films and not Altantis Iceland!

Despite the early morning finish, by 9:30 we were on the road again heading o...
